I just received my Motorola SLVR L7. The version I have I believe is
from Malaysia as I have the international charger.
S/W Version = R4513_G_08.B7.DBR_RB
DSP S/W Version = 631F1F00
A couple of items to note about this one:
- it does not have iTunes. On the plus side I suspect this might not
have the 100 song limit.
- it does not have the airplane mode which shuts the cell portion off
allowing you to use the rest of the phone in cell restricted
environments.
My questions are:
Can the airplane mode be enabled? If so, how is it done.
Can iTunes be installed?
Where can firmware be found and do all SLVR's take the same firmware
or are there only specific firmware for special regional hardware
models?
Thanks

I will let you know if I find anything out.

Correct - the 100 song limit is imposed by Apple for iTunes only. The only
limitation you have is space and patience downloading to your transflash
card.

Not sure - there may be a seem element for it. Check that you don't have a
menu entry "Airplane Mode" under main Menu / Settings.

No - as stated before the iTunes version is different hardware. iTunes is a
Java app that runs in its own Java virtual machine and needs special
encryption keys for it to run which are only present in the different
hardware - ie you could hack the Java source, but it still would not run.
If you load the iTunes sw pack onto your phone you risk bricking it and
making it a doorstop. Motorola did this because they got caught out with
the E398 to E1 mods.

There are different Flexes for each operator / region but they are all
loaded on top of the same software.
