#1 | | Guest | I've had my Motorola RAZR (silver, if that makes a difference) for
about 8 months now and just recently I'm having issues charging the
battery, especially from USB to my laptop.
I should say that up till just recently I had no problems charging the
phone using either the wall plug or through USB, this problem just
started happening (no change in any hardware involved)
When I plug the phone into the USB port it takes some wiggling of the
plug in the phone but it eventually starts to charge, I get the beep
and the battery flashes, and it stops a few seconds or sometimes
minutes later. The same thing happens with the wall adapter, I have to
work the plug into the phone and it'll start to charge then all of a
sudden conk out. The only way to get the phone to continue charging is
to unplug the adapter from the phone and plug it back in, and I have to
do this sometimes upwards of 20 times a charge.
Is it possible that the USB port on the phone itself has gone bad? As
I said, I get the same issue from USB and wall and the cable I use for
USB I know to be good becuase it's the same cable that I use to Hot
Synch my Palm Pilot and it works fine on that.

#2 | | Guest | Sounds to me like a problem with the connector in the phone - definitely
not related to the color of the case.
Since it's only been 8 months you should qualify for a warranty
replcement or repair. Some carriers will give you a new one and send the
old one in to Moto. As long as the phone passes inspection for not be
damaged or having gotten wet (sticker under battery must be white - not
red) you're home free. Otherwise they charge you for the new phone.
I've noticed that some aftermarket chargers have el cheapo connectors
that may not fit just right and could possibly damage the connector.
Best bet is to use genuine Moto chargers since they're already pretty
cheap.

Yes it could be bad, if you're good with a soldering iron, you can get the
part here: http://tinyurl.com/o7wej
However if it was mine I'd take it back, the phone has a warranty of 1 year.

Looks like we doubled on this, BruceR. You are absolutely correct, I
wouldn't use anything but OEM batteries & chargers. In fact I recommend the
SPN5202A rapid charger, it has an 850MA output. That's the highest output
charger I've been able to find.

#5 | | Guest | In terms of wall chargers I've only got, and have always only used the
OEM charger. About a month or so ago I had an issue with my original
battery - it just up and died so the battery I've got now is a new
one.....holy crudola, I forgot about that new battery. And it seems
like it's been since I got the new battery that this has started.......
I guess I'll be calling my Cingular dealer to see what they can do | | | |

I have a friend with the same problem. If it turns out to have anything to
do with the battery, I'd be interested.
But I'd bet on the connector. It may simply need cleaning, since dirt can
get in there fairly easily.
