Having tried all the antennas in the kit from Cell Antenna
Corp, I'm finding none improves signal strength. Variation
from two to five bars is the norm during a conversation with
or without the external antenna.
Is there something that has to be done to the V3 to enable
the external antenna connection?

Re: V3 external antenna enabled?
Put it in handsfree mode - of course you'll need a handsfree kit to use
the phone.

Re: V3 external antenna enabled?
Are you saying I cannot use the external antenna without
also buying a hands-free kit?

Re: V3 external antenna enabled?
I don't think so - but I could be wrong.

Re: V3 external antenna enabled?
Remember, external antennae don't boost cellular singles. They only
raise the height of the signal, so if you're in a valley, you'll get a
better signal. You'll need an signal amplifier to actually boost the
power output of your phone. In Canada, the CRTC mandated that cell
phones can only transmit 0.3 watts, but I've seen amplifiers that boost
it up to 3.
