Where does one get the drivers. Mine came with an itunes disc only.

If the phone connects for iTunes the driver is probably already
installed. They will also be installed with Mobile Phone Tools or you
can just install these drivers:

I have noticed that when I tried to use the same cable that I got with
my Canon camera, there is no charging of my V3 whatsoever. But when I
use the cable that came with my Soyo Cigar HD external drive, it
charges as well as other cables that I now own (like the one for my
Sony Network Walkman, and other devices that use the same plug).

I heard somewhere that there is 2 different types of that particular
usb plug, one with 8 leads and one with 9, with the nine one providing
the charging. Have not had time to look into that but it makes sense.

The USB cable that came with my highly discounted Bluetooth GPS receiver
charges only. They apparently clip the data leads so they can sell you an
additional 'connectivity' cable for 40% of the price of the receiver.

My PDA mini-USB cable works fine as a charger and data transfers.

Don't assume all the pins in the plugs have connectivity.

There are 4 and 5 pin versions but they have different connectors. The
v3 is a 5 pin.
