    If you are saying that you can't use one of the online unlokcing sites,
    that is also true of the v551. It doesn't prevent Cingular from giving you
    a subsidy unlock code via email.

    No, I'd have to take the phone apart, pull the board out and ground a
    certain test point then enter the code via a smart clip.

    That is not true of the v551. A smart clip can be used on the v551, but it
    isn't necessary. I would contact Cingular, asking for the subsidy unlock
    code for the v557, as it should be an identical method.

    I've read that a testpoint is required for the V557, it's not required for
    the V551. I've unlocked them using P2K Easy Tool, and several V3s also.

    I've looked all over and that's what I find too. 557 needs a test point
    grounded. Very involved operation.
