#1 | | Guest | Is there a modification to increase the ringer volume on a Verizon RAZR v3m?
I have been led to believe that it is not but would like to hear from the
modders first hand.
If it can be done, I'd appreciate being guided to the appropriate site(s).

#2 | | Guest | You need to modify the gains.table. The easiest way to do that is with
a program like Motokit or P2kTools, both available at www.motox.info.
These programs present graphic sliders to increase volume so you don't
have to use a hex editor. Don't set it higher than 4 or you could blow
out the speaker or experience a lot of distortion. You can also raise
the handset and speakerphone volumes, again, don't go above 4.

I used to wonder the same thing re my v325.Instead of having to go into
the phone's files for this particular *fix* I simply recorded my own ring
tone using the record option on the handset. If your phone model let's you
record voice, or any other sound, you should try that first. If so you may
need to record via the speakerphone if your recording(s) are not loud
enough.

#4 | | Guest | Bruce, I am in GP Tables Editor. I am hard of hearing and do not use
hearing aids.
I want to adjust the handset, increase the vibration, and also want the
speakerphone to be louder. What exactly do I adjust? What is master gain
step 1, 2, etc. Also once i am in the program do I have to click on
"connect." The problem I believe I was having is that the cable I was using
was defective. Once I plugged in the phone the recognition would appear and
disappear. I will hopefully find the correct cable this week and get the
phone working to my satisfaction.
TIA!

Leave the master alone and just adjust the ones that need tweaking.
Don't go higher than 4 on a v3. On a v3i you need to go higher than 8.

Sorry to be so dense, but I'll need more specific assistance.
I have P2kTools -- I successfully but with trepidation modified my phone
with the CD from CellCables-- but I need more step-by-step instructions --
sort of "gains table modification for Dummies :-(
Are these out there somewhere? And what version of P2ktools should I have?
Do I also need the P2K editor?

Volume to set the gains sliders. You don't need the editor. Another
good program to use is Motokit.

#10 | | Guest | Thanks, Bruce. I found the gain table, but I was(am) not entirely sure if
changing the settings ( I assume that Earpiece, speakerphone, and
ringtone/video are the ones one might like to boost on a RAZR) entailed a
load and save/backup procedure, like SEEM edits).
Will the Gaintable Editor on the same Motox download page do the same thing?
Incidentally, I have P2KTools, ver.0.7.1.9 --is that sufficient? And why on
earth is the Readme/Help manual only in Russian?
Grateful, as always

#11 | | Guest | And what about this e-mail reply I got:
The gain table that you refer to is only available on GSM versions of the
phone (T-Mobile and Cingular). There is no gain table on CDMA phones
(Verizon and Sprint). This is why this feature is not supported on your
phone.

stuff crippled.
There's no big difference in the p2K versions and the other gains table
program does the same thing. The P2kTools program was developed in
Russia, hence the Russian help files.

#13 | | Guest | I downloaded the P2Ktools again, but it refuses to connect to my phone --
its main problem seems to be that it can't find a "Motora Testing Program"
when I ask it to connect.
Motokit and the Gaineditt program, all download from Motox, refuse to
connect as well. So I suppose it must be the phone.

We are talking about a CDMA phone here (from Verizon Wireless), and CDMA
phones DON'T use the gain table that GSM phones use. Much of the stuff
on the motox site only applies to GSM phones, even though I don't think
that point is mentioned there. You can do all the gain table tweaks
described at motox, but they won't have any effect on a CDMA phone.
Likewise P2ktools, with rare exception, don't work on CDMA phones. | | | | |
