Hi all,
I have had a Motorola E815 phone from Verizon for about 10 months.
Recently, I've been unable to charge it with the standard wall charger.
I've confirmed that the charger itself is not broken, since a friend's
identical phone will charge with this one.
I have been able to recharge the battery with a LiIon battery charger by
sourcing 4.2V across the terminals, limited to 1 Amp, for a few hours.
But this is really inconvenient :-)
When I plug the charger into the phone, absolutely nothing happens. Has
anybody had this problem? Is there any way to fix it (I'm handy with a
soldering iron)? Any idea how expensive it is to get this sort of thing
fixed through Verizon/Motorola?
Thanks for any advice,
Dan LEnski

Re: E815 phone won't charge!
Try a new battery before opening up the phone. If that doesn't solve it
send the phone into Motorola under the 1 year warranty.

Thanks Bruce. Swapping the battery doesn't help either unfortunately. Do
you know if I can call Motorola directly about the warranty, even though I
bought the phone from Verizon?

Yes, but don't bother to call. Go their website, fill in the form and
follow the instructions for mailing it in. You'll have it back in about
two weeks. I just did this for my son's v3 when the camera stopped
working.
