I just bought a new V710 and, when I try to charge a depleted battery, I get
a "Charge Complete" message after a few seconds. The battery meter indicates
"6" (full), but if I take the charger out and try it again, it begins to
charge and the battery meter will read "2". Sometimes, it will say "charge
complete" again within a few seconds, and sometimes it will continue the
    charge.

I'm assuming this is not normal. Is it a problem with the charging port, or
    the charger itself?

    Thanks

Try a different battery. That's the most likely suspect.

where did you find a 'new' v710? they've been discontinued for a
while now. the battery itself may be bad. try contacting the sellar
for a return or exchange under warranty...if you have one.
