This morning showed an update available to 4.36 with a download of 17.10 MB.
Download to WinXP Home was good, but install hung.
I rebooted, tried again, it appeared to work, but transfer one of picture
from my RAZR V3 aborted. Subsequent tries would not start.
Not features now work after rebooting three times.
Now USB connection will not recognize phone.
Guess I'll un-install all, re-install from CD.

I have been trying to get a regular update for a week now - it never
worked. After manually installing a V3, the automatic update installed PT
4.36c which don´t recognize anything. German support of motorola told me
that this version has some problems. The working version is supposed to be
4.34, but the automatic update tells me that my version 4.21a cannot be
updated. So...
I´m going to return the package to Motorola tommorow.
Having a good time, anyway.
Cheers, Henning

I uninstalled twice. I re-installed the 4.04 CD, then when the update
available appeared, chose only 4.21a. It still doesn't work and the hang-up
seems to be the USB modem part. Since I understand that to be officially
taboo with Cingular, maybe the update was to disable that. I don't need
that, I have a Sprint connection card. But I would like to retrieve my
pictures to my PC.
It's enough of a frustration to tip me over the edge to buy a new HTC 8525
rather then another Moto product.

Live Update only works from 4.21 when 4.21 is a full install -- LU fails
when 4.21 is the result of LU from an earlier version. Until this is
fixed, you would need to contact BVRP with proof of purchase for a
complete install package at 4.21 or later.

Try installing the free Cingular Connection Manager (free download from
Cingular.com), which includes drivers for many phones.

More the fault of BVRP than Moto.

This started when I connected the Razr to the PC to transfer pictures and
charge the Razr. The update noticed appeared. >>I should have disconnected
the Razr before download/install<<. Somewhere along the way, I was asked to
create a unique name for that device. I don't recall being asked for that
previously.
Version 4.21a had not worked since re-install afterwards, but I noticed the
new profile. By clicking on the drop down, there is an alternative default
profile. When I selected that, V 4.21a operates as before.
I'll let V 4.36 age in the barrel before trying again.
