I have Googled for the email settings and tried all of them and always get
the message "connection unsuccessful".
Does anyone have the settings for a Motorola V3i with a pay-as-you-go o2
sim?
I have Internet email accounts with o2 as well as btinternet.
Wap is ok.

Can you access the Internet at all?
Have you tried Google Mail (Gmail) for Mobile? There's both a WAP
interface and a downloadable Java (J2ME) app. I use and recommend it.

Internet. I am really after is the correct setting for my phone to use

I tried various interweb things on the V3i apart from WAP but got the
general impression from looking around that if you are O2 mere Pay and
Go users like myself and have no wish to spend a fortune on a contract
then its tough luck with anything else.

Thanks Dominic. I am getting that impression as well. The o2 help desk say
they do not support it.
Strange thing, though, is on my older Motorola V220 there was no set for
email, I just sent the email and everything worked well. So why not on my
new V3i?

Go here http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html and see that you may be stuffed
if you're trying to use GPRS that O2 use for mobile email. However this
page http://www.filesaveas.com/o2.html implies you may not.
Bye!

Those two pages are what originally convinced me it wasn't going to
work on Pay as You Go.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried all of those settings to no avail.
Thanks anyway.

Pity you didn't let everyone know you'd already been there
So are you going to jump network?

I take your point. In my defence, I did say "I have Googled for the email
settings and tried all of them" and asked "Does anyone have the settings for
a Motorola V3i with a pay-as-you-go o2 sim?"
> So are you going to jump network?
"Jump network" that sounds interesting. Do you mean try another network's
sim? If not, what do you mean?

That's probably what he meant. For instance, Orange don't appear to
port-block, but their outgoing SMTP server is a bit on the flakey side.
And, if you choose to use your phone as a modem, Orange PAYG as a nice
offer where if you buy the £1 "extra" the meter is turned off for the rest
of that calendar day.

The latter is precisely what I mean though I can't recommend a particular
network as I never use mobile email. I know it's available on T-mobile pay
as you go though you have to balance PAYG total costs versus monthly
contract prices where mobile email's more widely available.
