Silicone, plastic, rubberized something, neoprene, leather, whatever ....

I'm looking to snap a good quality case on my new Motorola Razr V3
cellphone but I am confused by the huge selection.

I like the Disney cases but none say what they are made out of and that
    makes me leery. http://www.wirelessground.com/morav3diprca1.html

The pink silicone seem durable but I noticed they have "bra straps" at the
hinge which almost certainly will break before anything else.
    http://www.wirelessground.com/cymorav3v3cv4.html

The rubberized material seems durable but it has belt clip connections
    which I don't want. http://www.wirelessground.com/mov3v3crarug3.html

I can't tell if any of these cover the keypad or camera or screen with
clear plastic but I prefer to be able to hit the keypad without having to
    press through plastic.

I don't like the hard plastic or leather cases. I just want something that
is well made, fits tightly, and protects the phone.

Can someone who has a case PLEASE let me know what the important things to
look for are. All I care about is good quality, good protection, and pink.

    Thank you!

I have a clear cover like you're looking at here. Top notch product.
I like it because it fits the phone perfectly. Never had any problems
with the "bra straps" you mentioned.

FWIW: I would not use any other cover on my RAZR

Why do you need a cover at all? I keep mine in my pocket. After a year
    it still looks like new.

The store told me that without the cover, the Razr is almost certain to
break because it is so thin and flimsy. They had cheap plastic covers in
    all the wrong colors.

I would tend to agree with them that the Motorola Razr V3 sure does look
    fragile.

Why else would so many confusing covers be on the market if people weren't
using the covers to protect the phone?

Because they're profitable, that's why. I had the Razr v3 for year and
now a Razr v3i for year. Neither show(ed) any signs of wear after
keeping it in my pocket and using it frequently at construction sites
and in all kinds of climates. The phone is made out of metal and is
actually quite sturdy and will take a fair amount of abuse. It is NOT
waterproof but neither are any of the covers. If you want to protect the
    screens use this:
    http://www.shieldzone.com/item_descr...TRAZRSCRN.html
They also offer a full body shield if you really think you need it. I
use the screen protectors on my v3i and they work well without bulking
up the phone. I use them because it's easier to clean the screens with
    these things on.

I have a simple leather pouch with a Velcro flap. No clip, no see-thru
window...none of that. The only disadvantage is that it muffles the
speaker. Got it for $5 from www.cnn.cn.

It may look fragile, but if you don't treat it like a wad of Kleenex,
it should last. I have a case so that the outside display doesn't get
    all scratched up.

The store is just trying to sell you something you don't need.

    > I would tend to agree with them that the Motorola Razr V3 sure does look

Did you actually handle the phone you're getting? From what I've seen,
the RAZR is solidly built. And even if it weren't... no cover you're
looking at will make it more solid. You'd need a form-fitting hard
    case cover for that!

    > Why else would so many confusing covers be on the market if people weren't
    > using the covers to protect the phone?

For a lot of people, the phone is a fashion statement, not merely a way
to talk to their girl/boyfriends. All of those cases are there to
dress up the phone, not protect it. If the phone isn't durable to
handle day-to-day non-abusive use, then it's the wrong phone and it'll
    break anyway.

For my money, and I have paid for them, the only reason(s) to get a
case for a flip phone is a belt case/pouch, or if you intend to
keep/carry it in a pocket or bag where you KNOW that you're also
carrying something that will otherwise damage it.

If you were talking about a stick phone, like the SLVR, then I'd agree
that a case might be a good idea, if it's a flip-lid or pouch case -
specifically so you can prevent accidental presses to the keypad. This
is not an issue with a flip phone.

My Razr has been residing in my pants pocket along with a pocket knife and
nail clippers for just over six months.

There is absolutely no signs of wear.

The 'phone's quite rugged, the store people were guessing or extremely
    clumsy or plain stupid.

I use a leather, belt clipped case,

wife uses her pocket. Her's gets dust and fluff stuck on the 'phone, mine's
    clean as a whistle.

Total crap. I think the metal is titanium. I've dropped mine quite a
few times on cement and asphalt from anywhere from 3- 5 feet. Couple
of nicks but it still ticks.

BTW, the car charger I got at Wal-Mart for $7.95

Certainly a durable looking case but doesn't it make the phone twice as
thick and do away with the sleek look?

One of the main reason I use all Motorola phones is that I insist on having
the same adapter for the car & home for all our phones.

I no longer buy ANYTHING that isn't USB!

Anything that can be USB that is not USB is wholly worthless to me.

In fact, the carrier offered a free phone but it wasn't USB so I declined
in favor of the Motorola USB phone.

I tried that with an old V710 I had, and it flipped out of the belt
holder when I had to get on a forklift at work as I put on the
    OSHA-required seatbelt.

These days, the phone stays out of a case which would cause scuffing and
wear on the finish of the plastic and in my left breast pocket. With our
    work uniforms, that's no problem.

    Pouch, not holster.
