I am interested in learning the purpose of the Ferrite module on some
USB cables. I have a USB 5-wire mini-USB cable that I could use for my
V3xx phone but it does not have a Ferrite module.
Is there any danger in using a cable that does not have such a module?
Thanks

The ferrite is to supress EMI and bring the device into compliance
with Part 15 of Federal Communications Commission regulations which
serious restrict radiated and conducted emissions.
If anything, the cable will work better and at higher speeds without
the ferrite bead.
