    Take it apart, take the earpiece speaker out, clean the contacts, put it
    back together (maybe with a thin piece of plastic to put more pressure on
    it), reassemble, and I bet it works. I've done it to a 551 that was
    destined for the trash can. As a test, just try squeezing on the case where
    the earpiece is and see if that gets it working while it has pressure on it.

    I have disassembled the phone and have found that the earpiece itself is
    bad. Is there
    a source for parts such as this? Thanks again,
