Then you don't have it set up the same way -- Dial-Up Networking is
essentially the same in Vista as it is in earlier versions of Windows.
Your best bet is to start over, following the MEdia instructions in the
    wiki below, direct link:

Cingular isn't actually doing anything, and it's not related to your
    problem in any event.

It actually is essentially the same.

Those images are of _shortcut_ properties, not the Dial-Up Networking
properties. Again, you need to follow the MEdia instructions for XP.

Thank you John. But Vista does not start a wizard like XP Pro. Vista does
want an ID and password. Where would I find those for Cingular as my ISP?
Are they standard for Everyone, or specific to each subscriber?

Cingular is indeed clamping down on data usage. This has already been well
discussed and I am not going play your game of denial.

You now have my permission to have the last word.

Discussed with a few unverified anecdotes, but not shown to be true.

    >You now have my permission to have the last word.

In other words, you don't have any proof.

I continue to use large amounts of data with no complaint from Cingular.

I have seen the bills with my own eyes and made the calls to Cingular myself.

And that is proof as it meets YOUR criteria for proof that you have used in
    the past...your own experience.

I didn't say everyone was getting hit by a within any specific time frame,
nor did I say how long it takes Cingular to figure it out. One of the bills
I looked at had several months of data usage, but no extra charges. Then
the last bill I looked at...it had data charges.

Now I have to solve some annoying Vista problem - when I connect with the
cell phone, my large emails or long web sites scroll wildly up and down
sometimes, for no apparent reason. But not your problem. Thanks again.

I've investigated a number of such reports, and all were due to billing
system errors that were cleared up with a bit of work and persistence,
which isn't terribly surprising, since I've gotten such huge bills
myself due to billing system errors, and was able to get them reversed
with a bit of work and persistence, plus getting additional credit for
    the grief I experienced.
