Is there a way to non-destructively open the LCD / speaker half of a KRZR?
Doing so would speed up the drying time, since my wife sent hers through the
washing machine...
Thanks.

I have to agree, plan on getting a new phone, that one is toast. You
might also think about adding the protection plan to your next one if
you're going to keep washing them. ;-)

The little white dot under the battery turns red on exposure to water.

I specifically asked if there were any exclusions at all on the Cingular
plan, and rattled off lost, stolen, run over by a car, dropped in the
toilet, dropped out the window... No exclusions. I would expect other
companies to be similar.
On the support answers page for Cingular:
"QUESTION:
What is Wireless Phone Insurance?
ANSWER:
Wireless Phone Insurance gives you the protection you need for your
wireless phone against theft, loss, accidental physical and liquid damage
and coverage for mechanical and electrical failure after the manufacturer's
warranty period has expired."

I think maybe the provisions of the insurance program must vary from
carrier to carrier and from policy to policy. I guess the only
protection is to read ALL the fine print before buying.

It was two years ago that I bought the plan, they confirmed that verbally.
I don't recall if I actually looked. I probably did, and would have
noticed a water exclusion.

Many thanks to all of you who responded - even though the answers weren't
exactly what I'd hoped for...

Re: Drying Out a KRZR
The two round dots at the top left and top right of the keypad, the
buttons for Messages and Contacts, those are the water sensors. If
the phone has always been dry, they're white like the rest of the
illuminated keypad. If the phone takes a bath, they turn another
color, pink I think.
