I understand that toll free numbers can see a cell caller's number
but can they also see your personal info, name, address, etc?
Thanx.

The phone system does not know these data.

If I call a company using any toll free number they cannot
ID my location etc? Just my number? I am confused.

I think you're missing the point:
It doesn't matter if the phone company gives them hardly any
information. If the person you call has your phone number (and nothing
more), they can very easily gather pretty much everything else they want
about you these days (depending on how much time and money they want to
spend). Especially if they've already done business with you.
The difference between toll-free and normal calls is that you pay for
the regular call and are legally entitled to block Caller ID (and the
technology is simple so you can easily spoof it). But when you call a
toll-free number, the recipient is paying for the call and has a right
to know who called. Thus blocking caller ID is worthless. And the
systems which keep track of these things (such as ANI) are much harder
to spoof (think about it: the phone companies are highly motivated to
make sure their BILLING systems are secure; Caller ID is a fun feature
for the customers and is not so critical).
(Aside: I've noticed that many major corporations advertise a
"Confidential" Ethics Violations Hotline, but they all use toll-free
numbers. I wonder how many whistleblowers have found themselves in the
trunk of a car after making such a "confidential" report?)
