Downloading pitures

I purchased the Motorola Razor using Alltel as the provider. I also
purchased the memory card and USB cable package for about $45 extra. To my
disappointment, I cannot move pics from the phone to my commuter (HP with
XP home OP) without removing the card from the phone. When I connect the
phone I get the message " cannot locate software driver". When I go to My
Computer, I cannot find a drive. Motorola wants $35 for this software. Is
there another solution?

Do you have a computer with Bluetooth? Bluetooth USB adapters can be
had for cheap.

On the other hand, that $35 is what fraction of your monthly bill?

Your phone's USB mode is probably set to "Data/Fax Connection".
Disconnect the USB cable, then go to the main menu, select "connection",
select "USB Settings" and change those from "Data/Fax Connection" to
"Memory Card". The phone should now enumerate on USB as a generic mass
storage device for which windows comes with a driver.

The "connection" menu may as well be under "settings" or somewhere else
in the menu tree or even completely unavailable, depending on the
settings your operator requested Motorola to make on the phones sold by
the operator.

Re: Downloading pitures

Use Bluetooth. Faster and no cables to fool with. Dongles cost about $20
on ebay. Get one that uses the widcomm/broadcom drivers. Also, you can
buy Motorola Phone Tools on ebay for ten bucks.
