Unexplained midnight action on a V3

Hi

For the last six nights a have been woke up by my Motorola V3.
Exactly at 12 o/clock midnight, it emits a series of fine sounds.ting, ting,
ting etc.for 30 seconds.
I have had the phone for eight month. Never set any alarms or schedules.
Checked everything and have not come up with something that would cause this
action. Don't even have that specific tinging sound in my ring selections.

Anyone came across this problem or has any solutions how to solve it before
I throw the phone out of the window?

John

Check the alarm settings again. It may be on. If not, try removing the
battery for 30 seconds.

Thanks for your suggestions Bruce. Unfortunately it did not solve my
problem...Same thing happened again last night.

Any other suggestions other then a steam roller?

Re: Unexplained midnight action on a V3

The only other thing I can think of is to set some alarms and then
cancel them in hopes that it will cancel the phantom alarm. If the
problem still won't go away and you don't use alarms anyway, then you
could set the alarm alert as 'silent' and at least you won't hear it.

Seems like something has been activated in the date book on the phone. I
would check the date book menu>setup>reminder>select delayed if off. Maybe
that will help. I noticed when I had an appointment scheduled, the phone
would sound off at midnight for some reason.
Good Luck!

Turn the phone off when you go to sleep.

Sounds simple but that doesn't work if he needs to leave it on for
emergency calls or if he is in an "on-call" position like a surgeon or
service tech.

Re: Unexplained midnight action on a V3

I would have mine turned off and plugged into the charger and it would still
chime at midnight. Go figure.......

Re: Unexplained midnight action on a V3

It chimes at midnight when turned OFF? Even with the charger plugged in
that doesn't seem possible. Are you sure it's not something ELSE in your
bedroom that's the culprit?

Many people are in denial and won't go see a shrink when they need
to. You may be one of them.

Re: Unexplained midnight action on a V3

John: by any chance do you have backup assistant on your phone? it is the program verizon has where you can upload your contacts to the internet so you can easily access them for a new phone? I had the exact same problem for months. My phone would do it every night at exactly 12:02 a.m. It would emit this loud, annoying beep (also not incuded anywhere in my sounds menu). I too had to keep the phone on for emergency purposes. It was driving me INSANE. Until one night when I watched the phone when it happened. For a split second it said something on the front screen like "updating contacts" or something like that. I then discovered that every night at a certain time, the program checks your phone to see if you have added any new contacts on the phone that need to be added to your contacts online. There is a place within the program where you can pick when you want your contacts to be checked. I picked a time when I would be up and awake when it wouldn't bother me. Right now I have my alerts turned off completely which means it doesn't make the sound at all anymore. If this does end up being what your problem is from then that is another option. You can either go into the menu to where you have the sounds for alerts and pick none or change the time of day the phone updates. Let me know how you make out.
