#1 | | Guest | I'm thinking about getting a wired headset for my V3m, but I wonder if they
provide completely "hands free" operation? I know many have an answer/end
switch, but can you initiate a call using voice commands with that switch
the way you can with a BT headset?

That wire does a nice job of getting tangled when you're driving. Be a
man and go with a BlueTooth headset.

Yes, you can initiate voice dialling from the button on a wired headset.
At least you could on my V3xx

Just an aside, while I used to have a BT headset, I went with wired... why?
I live in northern idaho, IMO handsfree is not just for the car, and the
wired let me put the cell in my pocket, with the cable and switch running
outside my jacket in the winter... If I was snowmobiling/atv'ng/skiing etc,
I didn't have to worry about that thing in my ear falling out... Guess it
depends what you do... and I could initiate voice dialing by hitting the
button and saying the contact name... handy with gloves/mittens.....

Yeah. Be a man and look like all the other assholes walking around with big
globs of plastic on the side of their heads all day long.

Thanks for all responses, and the confirmation that the button works for
initiating voice commands. By the way, the reason I'm "going back to wire"
is that every BT headset I've tried does not work reliably. Some have been
better than others, but call quality with all of them has been
unpredictable. Yes, the wire presents it's own problems, but at least the
call quality is the same as holding the phone to your ear.

Some people are certainly retarded. But a wireless headset is much more
convenient than a dangling wire.

Actually, I use a Moto H700. Since it automatically answers the phone when
I flip the boom open I carry it in my shirt pocket and only remove it to
make or answer a call. Then it goes back into the pocket.
I use it because I have, on several occasions, got out of the car with my
wired headset and pulled the cell phone out of the dash holder because I
forgot I had the headset on. Dumb I know, but I'm sure I'm not the only one
that did it. | | | |

My Cardo came with a lanyard that plugs into the charging port, so I
just wear it around my neck under my shirt and, like you, only whip
it out when I make/take a call.

Certainly not! ;-) I've also stuffed my phone into my belt pouch and
left the car in a hurry not realizing I still had the lighter cord
plugged in! Nothing will help me with that until they invent a
wireless recharger! ;-)

Now you get out with the wireless headset and leave the cell phone in dash
holder in the car lol | | | |

Yep, but I rarely take the phone with me to pump gas or make a quick pit
stop. No phone call is so important it can't wait for a reply in a few
minutes! | | | | |
