What's all the fuss over it ? I see the screen inside is the same as my beloved v3 ...I don't need to tote around an ipod ...it weighs a lot and feels like a brick ...lots of wasted realestate on the inside which coulda been used for a bigger screen ...I don't see why I should get it when my trusty old v3 works fine and lasts forever with a 1700mAh battery in it and has never failed me and so, what's the attraction and what is the added weight good for /?

I carry both at the same time...not because I want to, but the v3 was issued
to me by my employer and the v9 is my personal phone. There simply is no
comparison. I hear every other word on the v3 and it feels like the cheap
POS that it is. When I need to actually understand the person on the other
end, I tell them I'll call right back...then I use my RAZR 2.

    Is there?

    > I see the screen inside is the same as my beloved v3

No, it's not. The V3 has 176x220 pixels on the inside and 96x80 on the
outside. The V9 has 320x240 pixels on both screens. The outside screen
has touch sensitive areas to control the music player.

    > ...I don't need to tote around an ipod

    But you rather would?

    > ...it weighs a lot and feels like a brick

It sure feels as solid as a brick. And I guess it's lighter than a V3
    plus an ipod.

    > ...lots of wasted realestate on the inside which coulda been used for a bigger screen

Full ack on that. I don't get it why they did not put the display
    V3xx/V6 display in there.

Then don't. The V3 is a decent phone. If you are OK with the features,
    keep it.

    > and so, what's the attraction

The music player and the fancier "chin free" looks. Maybe also the 2MPix
camera, even though all cameras on Motorola phones used to be crap until
now, no matter what the resolution.

    Rigidity, I guess.

Then there's the faster processor and 3G connectivity. I frequently watch TV
news updates and listen to XM radio on the v9. Does the v3 have stereo
    Bluetooth?

Are you able to listen to XM using their online app, which is what I'm
trying to do, or do you subscribe to XM Radio Mobile?

Wow, you're right. What I had in mind when I wrote my posting was the
    V8, not the V9.

No, why would it? It doesn't have memory or a slot for a memory card, so
where would you store any music to play it on a V3? The V3i has the card
    slot but still now A2DP.

I guess I lumped them together in my mind...anyway, in short, is the v9
superior to the v3 and worth getting? Hell Yeah.

What's the trick Ric? When I try logging in I get the "were sorry, due to
    inactivity blah blah etc."
screen. CS tells me I need to log in using Explorer.

"now" was ment to be "no".

Yepp, the V3xx (and also the V3x) have card slots and do A2DP.
