Thanks for the responses.
>I would say it's rather evident that it is damaged to the point of not getting your photos back.<
Actually, after spending three hours trying to get Motorola Phone
Tools to recognize any phone connected to the PC via a USB cable, and
pouring through several threads on howardforums.com ( a great
resource!), I was able to salvage the photos, videos and contacts on
my wife's phone. I had to hack it to enable the phone's ability to
download files to a computer, which some threads on howardforums.com
walked me through step-by-step. The real challange was simply getting
the Motorola Phone Tools to recognize a USB-connected phone. I tried
every combination of restarting the computer and then plugging in the
phone; plugging in the phone and then restarting the computer;
restarting the computer, plugging in the phone and then launching the
software, etc. etc. etc. It finally worked, but I'll be damned if I
can recreate how I did it (which I'll have to do to upload the
salvaged files to the new phone).
>Are you sure the pictures are on the phone's internal memory and not the removable transflash card?<
Ahh, that would have been too easy!

No transflash card yet.
Best regards.
