I am going nuts here... have been trying to figure out how to assign

wall. It has to be possible, or what's the use of Categories in the

Re: assigning ring tone to Category

You have to assign the ringtones to the individual listings.

Re: assigning ring tone to Category

What is the point of categories then? My old phone allowed me to
assign a ringtone to each category - saving time from doing each
category address individually. I must be missing something...

Re: assigning ring tone to Category

One point of Categories is to show only the entries for a given Category
at a time. For instance, I have a Category "Clients", and when I select
that Category, I see Address Book entries only for my clients.

Another point of Categories is for syncing with Outlook.

You might be just missing your old phone. Motorola doesn't do it
that way but it sounds like a good idea.

Re: assigning ring tone to Category

ACTUALLY, I just figured it out and you CAN assign ringtones to
categories.

You go to address book, then "manage contacts" then "edit phone
categories" then if you click on individual categories you can assign
ringtones and add contacts directly to each list rather than go thru
your contacts and do everyone individually. Saves a TON of time. You
won't find it in the manual though! I am going to post this
separately, hoping to be helpful.
