Is there a way to directly copy mp3s from the PC to the my_music
folder on the phone's microSD card (without taking the card out of the
phone)? I'd rather not have to create playlists to sync via WMP.
More basically, is there a way to see the SD card on the computer and
read and write to it. It's a Verizon phone, so Motorola Phone Tools
is crippled.
Thanks.

The easiest way is to plug the card into your PC with an adapter as needed
than, rather than using WMP, open Progarams: Accessories; Tools; Windows
Explorer snd find your Music Files. Then just drag and drop whatever you
like to the card. Pop the card back into the phone and you're there.

So uncripple it.

No risk, anything done can be undone.

IF you know how and IF you have the necessary resources.
When I'm ready to buy a new phone, a couple of years from now, I might
try some of these hacks. In the mean time, having a phone that works,
as a phone, is more important than being able to copy photographs from
my phone's memory to my computer using the USB cable.
When I get a new phone, I'll also consider getting a new service
provider; one that does not cripple my phone!

Not sure how much crippling Verizon has done, but have you tried connecting
to a PC with a USB cable? If it shows up as a drive on your PC, that's the
SD card it's connecting to, not the phones internal memory.
