Alltel warranty after 'moisture dot' turns red

Hi,

My wife as a Razr that's about 15 months old, and about 4 months after
getting the phone we left it in the cupholder of our car where a
fastfood soda cup had been and leaked leaving about 1/2 inches of
water. The water seeped into the phone just enough to moisen the dot
and turn it red, but the phone has never had an issue due to this.

Now, the henge of the phone has started getting very wobbly, and from
time to time when talking on it, it just dies. It's due to the henge
because about 3 out of 5 times you can recreate the issue by talking
on it and moving the screen portion of the phone side to side to
recreate the issue.

I know when i take the phone back to Alltel they'll give me grief over
the moisture spot, but is there anything I can do or say to get this
fixed? We pay the warranty on this phone each month, plus being an
Alltel customer for over 12 years (well they were 360 Communications
when I signed-up), will that help?

Just curious -- I gotta get her phone fixed, but I don't want to jump
through dumb-ass hoops. Thanks,

Alex

Moisture voids the manufacturers warranty but most of the monthly payment
ones from the carriers cover just about everything so I'd expect you to be
given a new phone. If they refuse, demand a refund of all the money paid for
the warranty and you'll probably have enough to just buy a new one on ebay.
The hinge issue is very common and they would be hard pressed to blame it on
moisture anyway but if you check your policy I think it covers everything
except maybe disappearance.
And, yes, being a 12 year customer is VERY important to them.

Does the warranty cover accidental damage as in it got dropped on the floor
just as the car was reversing and reversed over it?

Yeah definitly bad news to drive over your phone especially when it's
raining. The moisture dot might get wet.
