This is very sad.

Historically Motorola were world leaders in mobile radio, producing the
first car radios before WWII, the first portable cell phone etc. Car radios
still connect their aerials with a Motorola plug (not as prevalent as RCA /
Phono though)

Recently however, apart from a brief resurgence with the Razr, their
ingenuity has faltered. Great products, like the MPX, have been announced,
but never released and their offerings have more or less dropped off the
market.

Unsurprisingly creative techies have been jumping ship before the inevitable
redundancies push them out.

RIM are sailing close to the wind, but IMHO are currently ahead of Motorola
technically.
