My RAZR V3m has started giving my low battery warnings after about 11
hours on standby (no calls made or received). It's about ten months
old. I put the phone on charge when I go to bed and take it off when I
    get up in the morning.

Any ideas why the change in behavior? I expected to get three or for
years of use from the battery. Is there any solution other than
    replacing the battery?

Cycle it....twice. Run the phone until it simply refuses to boot up any
more, then immediately recharge it to full. Repeat that sequence once
    again.

The IC in the battery that determines the state of charge has gotten out of
sync with reality. It thinks the battery is at 50% (that point when it
shuts down the phone) at some higher level.

Li-Ion batteries should by cycled every 6 months to "reset" or "resync" the
state-of-charge IC with the reality of the cell. Mine does the same thing.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
