T720 unusual characters

When I hit the phone book key and toggle say the "def" key After the f I
see strange characters. Is it just me? I thought after the f I would see
"3" then d again..

Maybe the phone needs a total reset?

Don't know how to do that.

It's multilingual. Those are accented and other characters in
alphabets other than English. Just cycle through them.
