    Hi to all !

I need some advice from experts.

I live here in Uruguay (South America) and my provider uses CDMA.
Here a T720 costs more than U$S 600.- so I decided to get one from the
USA. I asked my provider what they need to activate the phone and they
told me that when buying the phone I have to take care that it comes
with those 2 codes for accesing the programing .

I got in Miami a Verizon T720 CDMA with their code (in my case Menu
073887* and 000000) to get into programming.

Before bringing the phone, to activate it, to the provider I learned
about it the night before. I also changed the user blocking feature
from 1234 to 1111 then put it back to 1234 and I keeped it liked that.
I also programmed auto block when turning on/off. It worked ok with
1234. I was sure the blocking code was 1234.
5 minutes before I gave it to my provider the 1234 code worked ok.

I gave it to the provider and 10 minutes later they come back to me
telling me that they can not unblock the phone using 1234. First I
thought they were speaking about the programming codes. But the girl
said that those codes where ok but they could not deblock the phone.
They said they will try to deblock it but it will take time. So I left
the phone there so that they had more time to try. After 1 hour they
told me that they were able to deblock the phone.

Now they are telling me that to activate the phone they have to change
the Verizon Software and if they charge their own software we risk
that the phone could become totally unusable and want me to write down
an agreement were I accept that risk not making them responsable for
any damage that could happen to the phone.

Is all that possible ? I think that the enginners here do not know
that phone enough (it is too new here) and never had such a situation.
Can it be that hardware (the phone) becomes damaged because of the
software. Does Motorola make the T720s different for different
    sofwares ?

    What should I do ?

Thanks a lot in advance for any expertise.

    Regards from Uruguay

    Re: Can software destroy a T720 ?

They don't half to upgrade the software, all you might lose is the ability
to access the downloadable content, and other happy fluff. If you want to
just make and recieve calls, the software can be left alone. I would just
tell them to activate it, and say you will live with the performance you
recieve from it. Gotta ask though, with all the **** you went through, what
does this provider charge for a phone from them, with a contract?
