My T720c has built-in support for Bluetooth car kits and headsets, and
it's supposedly able to sync with my Apple G4 Powerbook. However, the
Bluetooth setup assistant can't find the phone.
How do I make my phone "discoverable"? Neither Apple nor Motorola are
any help.

There may be a reason for that.

You should be able to find an appropriate USB data cable online for
about $20. It will work out of the box with Apple's iSync. Buy a genuine
motorolla part. I've had bad luck with the third party data cables.

I have a Motorola i720 and an iBook. I use iSync and a $3 cable I got on
ebay. The setup has worked great for three months. Anything in the
Address Book with a phone number gets iSynced to the phone.

D'oh.
I called Verizon wireless down the block and said, "I need a phone
that has Bluetooth." This is what they sold me. And after reading the
manual, consulting the Mot web site, et cet, et cet, I realized they
meant to sell me the 270. Ha ha! Funny people, those Verizons. And
guess what! Verizon wireless no longer sells the 270! So they can't
rectify the mistake.
I'm getting a data cable. Which kinda defeats the purpose.

Yes they can. They sold you a phone that specifically does not meat
the requirements you set. Unless you're dead-set on staying with
Motorola, there are other options.
