    Hi, Gang:
I justed added a new line of service with Alltel and selected the T720. I'm
still in the "test" period where I can return it. Anything in particular I
should be watching for, as far as the phone's operation or potential flaws?
    The browser is version 4.1.

My other lines of service with Alltel are a V60, a Profile 300, and an Ultra
Classic. From these, I know the RF coverage will be good. But some folks
using the T720 on Verizon have reported various difficulties with the phone.
    (Others love it!)

Any phone reviews/comments from Alltel users will be appreciated.

    Re: T720 Performance

It depends, there are some defective phones out there by Motorola, but
if you said you just bought the phone, Alltel should have not given
    you a defective phone.

If you do have a defective phone, you will notice mainly stuff like
the phone resetting of you every so often. Many people make the
mistake of thinking that the phone has lost service because after
booting, the phone says "No Service". As soon as I got my defective
phone replaced, I love it. Don't have any problems "what so ever".

The only features I use from the phone are the phone book. I would
use some of Alltel's other services (like voice mail and text
messaging), but they seem to want to charge you for EVERY little
feature you have. Besides that, their service is great. So far I
have had some good customer service from our local Alltel store.

    Good Luck

My first one went bad and did the analog to digital and back again
routine. Alltel gave me a new one. One oddity is that it has a different PRL
than my V-60i. It began the analog digital switching after I did an over the
air PRL update. I was wondering if this might have caused the problem. At
that point I was using it to connect a laptop on 1x service. I dropped that
since then, but have left the PRL alone in fear of continued problems. I
have the same phone on a VZW account and it works fine here in FL, but had a
lot of problems on a trip to CT (as did the Alltel one). They both had
trouble holding a digital signal and I had several black screens with each
phone. Once back in FL, they are both fine. I suspect this phone is network
sensitive and that we have a better one in FL.

The V60(i), T720, and T721 have terrible reputations for MANY flaws.

Must be yours.......My 721 has been in service for two months
of heavy use (30 hours in two months) and I've had ZERO problems
with it. Web browsing, text messaging, voice mail, everything
    works like a champ

Well, so far, so good. Of course, it's been only a week, but the 720 is
working flawlessly. Very impressed with the performance. I knew it would be
good in the metro area, but it is doing very well in rural areas, as well.
I'm running it parallel to a Motorla Brick (also on Alltel), and a K6035 on
    Verizon.

So far, Alltel is whipping the pants off Verizon in signal strength, except
for a couple of blocks around my office. But there, the VZW tower is across
    the street. (grin)

I'm going to do a test in the mountains of NC and Virginia, as well as at
the NC coast in October. Then, I'm off to the REALTOR® convention in San
Francisco in November. I'm signed up for the 100 minutes of free roaming,
so I'll see how the phone works at some distance from home!

of dynamite on the X-Ray scanner.

    I don't own a T721. I said they have a bad reputation. I also don't
considered 30 hours in 2 months "heavy" use. That's 15 hours a month,
granted more than I currently use but @900 mins a month when I used to
use 2000 and lots of people use more then 900, I wouldn't consider that
"heavy". Maybe you got a good T721 and hopefully you have no problems
    with it ever.
