I got a Motorola bagger from the usual source, the Goodwill store. I
can't find the ESN or anything that looks like it anywhere on the
    phone. Am I overlooking something?

After reading many, many posts on trying to get AMPS service, the only
two posters that seemed to have any success had a PCS account first
and then switched phones. One case was with Cingular on a new account.
The other was on AT&T on an existing account.

I have an AT&T tri-mode with a prepay account that I keep in the glove
box for when I'm camping and traveling. As we all know, T-Mobile
coverage is terrible, but that is my only option on my Nokia
Communicator 9290 (LOVE it!)to use email, web, fax. So, I don't need
it often, but the AT&T works great in many places. Now, if I can
switch that service to a different phone, say an old AMPer, I'd have
even better coverage in the mountains.

But I have to find that ESN!

    Thanks in advance, pzo

You can try to put the phone in test mode by depressing:

    FCN - 0 - 0 - * - * - 8 - 3 - 7 - 8 - 6 - 6 - 3 - 3 - STO

on the keypad. If successful, you should see an 'apostrophe' in the
    display.

At this time enter 38# on the keypad, sometimes you have to enter it
twice. the display wil then show

    00 ??

00 is the address, ignore that, the ?? will be the first two hex
characters of the ESN. To scroll to all eight characters of the ESN
    just keep pressing *

    01 ??
    02 ??
    03 ??

If you need more help do an Internet search for "Motorola Bible". And
    long live Mike Larsen!!!!
