Only true Portable, higher then .6 Watt handheld model was a Blaupunkt and
it was 1.2 watts. NOBODY ever made anything else in true commercial release
to the public.
In this business you learn to never say never, but I am damn sure I am on
this one. Of course everyone had 3 watt TRANSportables, but the Blaupunkt
was the most powerful true handheld I have ever seen and I have been around
a long time, too long.

That's is correct, the Blaupunkt at 1.2 watts was the most powerful analog
handheld ever released. I never got to see one or use one. But from what I
heard, it worked fairly well.

Re: Help! Motorola 3 Watt Handheld
The original design DynaTac portable was 600mw / 3 W governed by the
received signal strength. Circa 1980-81. (The very early days of cellular
phones). Miserable battery life and bag phones, which moved the antenna
farther away from the body, quickly eliminated the original 3w ability).

Re: Help! Motorola 3 Watt Handheld
And it was REALLY made by G.E. They released the same handset in a snow
white color case in contrast to the Black Blaupunkt. I sold both types as a
sub agent for Bellsouth (now Cingular). They were all running in circles
though when the OKI 900 popped on the scene! I sold one of the first sets
in Atlanta to a lawyer who had to have every toy that OKI made for it to and
4 batteries! CHA CHING!!!$$$$ $1200.00 gross sale in 1 afternoon!
