Re: no worries

A new ESN/phone number paring will supercede the old one.
The old phone number is immediately de-activated.

This type of thing is done all the time. No worries.

Re: no worries

Let us analyze this "No Problem" scenario. Let us say that you found the box
that my currently activated phone came in. And you go home and take the ESN
from the side of my discarded box and plug it into the VERIZON Wireless
"Activate Phone" section of the WEBSITE, (just for the hell of it). You feel
that the system will just grab the ESN from my current and active account
and just assign it to to your mobile number thus rendering my phone useless?
End of story? I Don't Think So. In the least, the phone will be activated
with both numbers. In the past, you were able to have 2 mobile numbers
activated in the same phone/ESN. I did it all the time when In the old days
because I had a 200 min off peak plan I used on weekends and another plan I
used for PEAK (B4 the incredible plans available now, unthought of 10 years
ago ) Recently, they (VERIZON) say it can no longer be done. While the
story is different, the exact details and scenario are identical. You will
require VERIZONs input to deal with this matter. In fact, it is interesting
why you were sent an activated phone.Sounds like these were dealer phones of
some sort, but even so, getting sent an activated phone raises a degree of
concern, if not a FLAG, with me.
In closing, nothing will explode by attempting this, except possibly
freaking out the switch and causing you a hassle. When dealing with
technology in todays world nothing ever surprises me and I also have learned
to never say never. But I doubt this "let 'er rip" outlook towards this
situation will be the end result. Keep us posted, interesting case.
