I've tried just about every Verizon store within a 40 mile (literally)
radius of my house in Sunnyvale, California to get the latest software
upgrade for my timeport 270c.
Short of sending the phone back to Motorola, is there website that has
this? All the stores tell me because this phone was only sold by
indirect agents (duh - we ARE an indirect agent!) that they don't have
anything for it.
Thanks.
Evan

Re: Software upgrade for 270c?
You havent been doing much reading Evan. The subject has been covered
recently at length. You will have to send the Phone to Motorola. Advance
warning, it will take approximately 3 weeks (took me 3 weeks to the day as
well as 4 phone calls) Verizon never supported the bluetooth end of the
270c, thus, even if you find a service center for Verizon that has the
Firmware, IT WILL NOT HAVE THE BLUETOOTH MENU, PERIOD. Go over to the
alt.cellular.bluetooth and look for postings about the 270c. Will completely
answer all your questions about the phone. While most were posted here in
Motorola group, including one of yours that I answered, will be easier to
find in Bluetooth group because of lack of activity, thus not pushing off
server.
In case you can't find the info, here is a reprint on how to send the phone
to Motorola, everything you need to know.:
Reprint from earlier posting regarding sending phone to Motorola Service
Center for Repair:
In regards to Motorola, I am a retired (in term only) wireless dealer so i
am very familiar with Motorola's policies. If you have a warranty repair
(and you have POP, proof of purchase) you dont have to call Motorola
(everyone does anyway) you can just send the phone in. If you call Motorola
all they will tell you to do is the following. First, remove all accessories
from your phone including your cases, batteries (they have lots) cig cords
etc. Jot down your phones ESN or IMEI number and then wrap securely. Use
common sense, wrapping phone up in toliet paper or 3 wraps of newspaper is
not "securely".And remember, the finished package should not be able to be
shaken and the phones sliding all over the place. Bad sign!! Place your
phone in a suitable shipping container along with a letter stating the most
detailed explanation of the problem . You cannot give them too much
information. If the problem only aoccurs when your chewing Wrigleys Gum,
tell them. Then you need to include the return shipping info and contact
numbers.Make sure the ESN/IMEI number is also on this letter. Make sure you
include a COPY of the POP (Proof of purchase) with the letter as well. Make
sure they can find you while your sleeping. If they cant find you, you wont
be the first person to get your phone back after two weeks, unrepaired, with
a letter saying, " Dear Valued Customer, we tried to get a hold of you and
couldnt. So here is your phone unrepaired. It has a bad gizmoo and is not a
warranty issue. If you would like, send us the phone and $100 and we will
replace it.Thanks for buying Motorola!" Get my point!!? Then, and this is
important. Put the SERIAL/IMEI number EVERYWHERE and most important, THE
OUTSIDE OF THE SHIPPING BOX, that is imperative. Motorola receives your
phone at the repair depot by your ESN/IMEI number and Shipping TRACKING
Number. Only use a Shipper that will give a tracking number. When you call
Motorola to discuss your phone, the first question the automated attendant
wants is your phones Mobile Phone Number. From there it will go to the IMEI
for GSM phones (It does not ask for ESN on auto attendant) and then the
Shippers Tracking Number last..Always make sure the phones IMEI or ESN is
marked CLEARLY on the outside of the box as well as your complaint letter
inside the box. I cannot stress that enough. Finally send to (This reflects
some different verbage then my original posting, the actual numbers of the
address are all the same):
North America Hi-Tech Center
Cellular Door #40
5555 N. Beach Street
Fort Worth, Texas
76137
The contact number for all matters is 1-800-331-6456 Mon-Fri 7am-7pm Central
Time. If you follow the above procedure, i can assure that, at least the
delivery and correspondence facet of your repair will go smoothly

Re: Software upgrade for 270c?
Did you get yours back and is it working? And did you start with a VZW
labeled phone? What sort of firmware did it have when it got back? I bought
VZW branded one from Cellpoint which activated on Alltel, but won't charge
and won't connect to my PC or Alltel's. Cellpoint is going to swap it out or
repair it for me, but if it comes back and won't work with Bluetooth, I
guess I will need Moto to flash it.
The Bluetooth did work and the headset really rocks. Very nice to just
answer the phone without digging it out of a pouch.
Thanks for all your info!!

Really? I plugged in the bluetooth module which arrived yesterday, and
I did have the bluetooth module, but wouldn't synch with my phone.
I did send the phone in to Moneyrola yesterday though.
Thanks.
