I'm curious as to why it won't work. I thought one of the big advantages of
GSM is phone portability.

If the providor has set up the phone to allow that.

Re: Can i use the motorola MPx200 (ATTWS) with T mobile
The Motorola MPx 200 Smartphone works extremely well on T-Mobile!!
Been using it for more than three weeks (since I could get my hands on one)
and not a single hitch.
1) Need to get the SIM/carrier lock removed - a few bucks to
unlockitnow.com brought a code that worked perfectly
2) Need to make some manual changes to the GPRS settings to use T-Mo's
servers and so on. Perfect. I especially like T-Mo's unlimited access for
very reasonable prices ($4.99 a month).
3) If you want to remove some of the AT&T branding on the phone, there are
some registry hacks that do the job well. It's not at all difficult, if you
ever do registry hacks on your PC!!
4) Down side? Only minor issue I have found is that I cannot seem to get
into the T-Zones portal (web page). However, virtually any other wap or
even www site comes up well.
5) Need corporate email? Have Exchange Server 2003? No need to upgrade to
T-Zones Pro ... this phone does mail easily though Outlook Mobile Access and
over the air Active Sync. Want POP email? That will work as well (one
account) .... even authenticates to the SMTP server!!
I have been personally looking for a phone with the features of the MPx200
for 3+ years now ... and have found that this one works perfectly in every
way!!
If you have specific questions ... post 'em and I'll try to help.
I tried AT&T's GSM service for a little while and then shut it down ...
coverage at my home was much worse than T-Mo and although their Family Plan
rates looked lower, by the time you added in some of the text messaging and
T-Zones plans we use, the costs were just about a wash.
Cheers!!

The phone needs unlocked. ATT doesn't unlock their phones; you need to find
a third party unlocking solution.

Re: Can i use the motorola MPx200 (ATTWS) with T mobile
Hey Ken -- What area of the country are you in?
I'm on Long Island, NY and have been unsatisfied with T-Mobile ... am
thinking of switching to AT&T - despite their 'newness' to GSM - T-Mobile /
was VoiceStream / was OmniPoint just too 'sketchy' around here .. many
outages, many holes, many weak areas, frequent [apparent] network
maintenance on weekends = periods of no service, periods when cannot text
message, ..........
Thanks,
--Chuck

Re: Can i use the motorola MPx200 (ATTWS) with T mobile
Chuck
We're in Tacoma, WA. Service here has been quite reliable. I especially
like the unlimited T-Zones ... especially with the REAL browser on the
MPx200.
Although not an expert on the East Coast (and an even rarer visitor) we
recently spent some time in Washington DC, NYC and on the road to
Cooperstown & Niagara Falls. Had strong signals on T-Mo almost everywhere,
except going to and from Cooperstown. I was especially impressed that we
had full strength all the way from DC to NYC on Amtrak. No complaints at
all.
Cheers!!
