Re: GPS info in field test mode on Motorola C343 with Verizona

I have an i730 and it works just fine. The aGPS's 'a' part is to allow it
to obtain it's location fast. The theory or principle is that the phone
will obtain it a locational reference from the cell towers and then 'know'
which staelites to look for. The stats on the Oncore AGPS chip set say that
it can find a location in less than 6 seconds when it is doing AGPS. Now
there is a part that has to happen on the carrier side and that is that they
have install the software to support AGPS. If something like Location
Server isn't running on the carrier's side then you phone works like a
    regular non assisted GPS.
I am up in Canada and I know for a fact that Telus is not yet running the A
stuff for the GPS, they have it budgeted but it isn't installed yet. My
phone will take up to more than a minute to return a location intially, once
it has located satelites, usually 3-4, it can hold the fixes rather well. I
have hooked it up to my laptop and driven around the local downtaown area
and the phone had not problems maintaining a locational fix as I drove
around, I was using MapPoint 2002 for the test. I am working on the cabling
to hook it up to my APRS radio as well.
If you want more information on the e911 stuff you might try the Openwave
site and check out Location Server.

Can you point us in the right direction to get it to show up on the A530. I
have been unable to find instruction (and yes, I've tried google)

I just put the phone in field test mode:
    Menu-->9-->*-->000000

    Select Debug Screen, Option 1:

Go to the Position Scrn, right key seven times:

    and there it is--my location
