My Motorola V60i (TDMA) won't work with any Motorola USB Modem driver.
I have it plugged in via generic USB cable I bought off Ebay. The
computer detects it just fine, and installs a Motorola USB Modem
Driver. At first I used 2.0.0.1 and it didn't work. I tried
upgrading to v2.1.0.1 and it still doesn't work. The problem is
whenever any program tries to access the modem, even simply going into
the modem properties and clicking "Query Modem", the phone says
"Calling..." and hangs there. I have to pull the battery to reset it.
Firmware version of the phone is v24.32.00_PHOENIX.
I know everything on the PC side is fine, even the USB cable is
fine... I tried my wife's V60 (TDMA) with firmware v15.06.00 and it
works perfectly! It likes the installed modem driver just fine, and I
can use Mobile Phone Tools and read the phonebook out of it with no
problem at all.
Is my phone bad? Has anyone seen this before, and know the fix?
Thanks,

Does your carrier support using the phone as a modem? Some don't.
Some don't unless you have them turn the feature on. Most CDMA
carriers don't screw the phone up even if they don't support data on
your account.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if the carrier does, I'm not
really trying to use the phone as a modem. However, the Mobile Phone
Tools program uses the "Motorola USB Modem" driver to communicate with
the phone. It uses that driver to read the phonebook, SMS messages,
etc in order to sync with Outlook (Mobile Phone Tools is the
replacement for Motorola TrueSync). It works perfectly on my wife's
V60 which is on AT&T, while it locks up my V60i, also on AT&T. If I
go into Hyperterminal, I CAN issue AT commands to my phone and it will
usually reply. The second I issue it an AT command with an "&" symbol
in it (i.e. AT&V), the phone will lock up and display "Calling..." on
the display.
I just wonder if my phone is defective... does anyone else have a V60i
with this firmware version and does NOT have this problem?

I don't have the 'i', but I doubt that the modem firmware has changed.
Take it to an AT&T store and ask the tech people to check it out on
their hardware.
