The other night my car was broken into and my new i730 which I just paid an
arm and a leg for is stolen!

This really does suck, being that I have no money for a new phone, and can
hardly pay the huge bills I get anyhow. After calling nextel they have
placed restrictions on the phone, but offer me nothing but the high prices
for any new phone. Couldnt even get on the seasonal standby, because i
havent been a customer for 3 months [well I have, but I changed my plan
earlier and it hasnt been 3 months since].

I'm thinking of calling them back pist off, and just outright cancelling the
service, and switching to sprint or cingular.

They can't even track this super GPS phone I paid so much for, and the
service rep was a real BIT*H!!

Anyone have some ideas for me? I'm sure theres probably nothing, but it's
    worth a shot.

    Re: Stolen Phone...

I have a suggestion: Try asking for the lost/stolen department. This is a
branch of "Account Services" for customers whose units were lost or stolen
without insurance. You will still have to pay for a replacement, but it will
be cheaper than a brand new unit through Sales. We all know it sucks when
you lose a phone, but even if you do have insurance, you will still have to
pay a deductible ($100 for the i730). You may want to ask again for the
seasonal standby if you think it will be more than a month to come up with
the funds to replace your phone. The policy is generally like you stated,
you have to be on your current plan for over 3 months, but if you ask for a
supervisor and explain calmly that you can't afford a replacement
immediately because you recently purchased the i730, most supervisors would
rather let you go on standby than lose your business altogether. If your
i730 was on your bill, that is even better, because then they can see what
you have been paying for recently. As for the GPS, customer care doesn't
track phones. If your account is registered at Nextel.com you can track the
phone yourself, provided it is registered as well and has been in use or
    powered on since registration.

Threaten to cancel the service. Watch how quickly you will get a supervisor
kissing your as* trying to convince you to stay. I got a brand new i95 that
way (my previous phone was an i90)

    Re: Stolen Phone...

Because when he cancels service they DO get their "Early Termination Fee"
and thats all!. He gets a free or deeply discounted phone when he signs up
with Verizon (or whoever). Nextel realizes this( see retention) and figures
it's better to take the hit and make it up in the long run, then to lose a
    good customer over this.
Also the customer will more than likey share his experiance with co-workers,
friends, family, neighbors. If it's a good "rep" thats good for Nextel..if
its bad..thats very bad for Nextel. I work with the public on a daily basis
and have bashed the crap out of ATTWS for years. I see people that I have
discussed cellular providers with (at a later time) and they are NOT
carrying ATTWS phones, a favor for them..a kick in the ass for ATTWS...Eddie

    Re: Stolen Phone...

The best thing to do ...

    - call to Nextel and buy insurance Direct Protect for 4.95 (Don't tell
them your phone is broken !!! )

    - then call them in 2-3 days and tell your phone is broken somehow, so
they will send you new one (but the same not i95 instead of i90)

    - then just cancel insurance after you send the phone in 5-7 days.

p.s. for reply about kissing r as* , what they gonna do - to tell u go
    fu*k rself .... & pay early cancellation Fee . They don't give
    anything for FREE !!!
