the Carriers will see this take it as a suggestion?

#3 | | Guest | It would be nice if Verizon does the 7pm nights. Rumor or not, it still
would be ok with me, but, not like it's going to happen.

#4 | | Guest | It would be nice for US and not them.
The other smaller carriers are doing it to be more competitive with
Verizon/Cingular. They are hoping to make up for the inconvenience of less
coverage area.
There is still rush hour traffic after 7 pm. Carriers don't make much money
from nights and weekends, they make most of their money from business users.
These same business users who commute home after work.
I don't think they are really thinking about doing this.
My .02 anyway ;-)

now, or I lose 8 pm.
Verizon is very sly when they increase prices. It's usually by taking away
something that will cause more extra charges, rather than simply raising the
base price.

When I signed up for Cingular late last year, they had a 7/7 deal going.
For $7 per month per line, your 5000 N/W minutes start at 7PM Monday through
Friday. So unless they've nixed that deal very recently, 7PM nights are
more than just a rumor. I think it's worth the extra $7 per month, as most
of our calls are made between 7PM and ~ 8:30-ish.
Now if Cingular was going to offer 7PM for FREE, that would be nice. But I
haven't heard anything about that. Just thought I'd post that you can have
7PM on cingular if you want it. -Dave

You're being magnanimous when you use the term "sly."

#8 | | Guest | I remember back in the day 1994 my first provider, Cellular One. They
had 7a to 7p was peak and 7p to 7a was non peak...I loved the hours but
if they had unlimited N/WKD like we do now .... :-)

Which is all fine and dandy, but the OP specified Verizon (which begs the
question of why he crossposted to the Cingular and Nextel groups).

As you can see, he trolled all of the groups, adjusting the message for the
appropriate carrier. This is simply the one thread that lives on.

Ah, you are right. Went back to google to see the original post/thread
( www.google.com), and someone replied to a previous message, but added the
extra groups to the reply...Guess that's what got the three groups started.

AT&T Wireless is currently offering 7pm nights for free on plans of
59.99/month and over with a two year contract.
