You have a tower issue. It could be one of many things. But right off hand I
am thinking that the power has been turned down on the site or a BR was
deleted off the sector that you are on. It could also be a case of a bad
antenna on the site itself. If you really want to help out....Put the phone
into trace mode and get the readings at your home....the RSSI which is
located in the bottom right of the display and the SQE which is located in
the top left of the display and then look at the top right and write the
series of numbers/letters down. That is the carrier and it will help us to
look at the tower your operating off of and the exact sector.

I had the same problem where I used to live.Inside my house there was no
Nextel service but end of driveway there was.It WAS a tower issue for
me.Luckily a friend is a tech for radios so he recommended a Inside
Amplifier. It worked for me.I was by intelligain.I have since moved to a new
location which has better coverage ( not suggesting that of course! )I use
the asmplifier now in my car to improve coverage around Adirondack Mountains
and Catskill Mountain when I am on the road.

Just my situation at the time, may not be the same solution for you however.I
was doing business out of my home so coverage inside was important.Well
worth the $500 it cost me at first.Being car friendly it has paid for itself
    over time.

    Re: signal stumped

15 miles from downtown???? If that is the case and you are near a major road
or the interstate then you are covered. Go to the Nextel office NOT a dealer
and explain to them and they will know what area that is assigned to and
called them. Reason why I said goto the main Nextel office and not a dealer
is because they know the engineers and see them more often than a dealer. I
try and show up at the main office least once a week, at a dealers
location....well I show up when I am needing something or if I have nothing
else to do. Also for the BDA or inside Amp. yes he is correct it will boost
your signal, but from what you said you don't need one, b/c you had perfect
    signal for 3 yrs.
