If I get a PTT phone from Verizon, how long am I gonna have to wait to
actually find another human that has it so I can have someone to talk
to? Isn't going to take years before a critical mass develops like
the one Nextel has? Also, all these contractors and suppliers that
use Nextel- why would one or a few make the switch to Verizon when
everyone else in their group is with Nextel? I am Verizon customer
and like their wireless service very much. However, I do not see how
its PTT service will be successful or useful at all for many, many
years. Tell me why I am wrong in this assessment. I may well be and
want opinions.

Why are you posting this on the NEXTEL site? Why don't you ask on the
Verizon site.

Re: Verizon PTT- Who is On Here To Talk to?
I think the only way PTT is doing anything is with company in an area
not serviced by Nextel. We all know PTT is going to have tons of bugs,
especially when it's new. Verizon's strong points is having somewhat
limited service in areas where no other companies have towers. Nextel,
does, however, have FCC licences to cover the ENTIRE US, where Verizon
is leasing many of its licenses.

Re: Verizon PTT- Who is On Here To Talk to?
I have Verizon service as well, but there is no way that they will have
something like Nextel for probably years. A statement came out stating
that Nextel maintains their radio service at a $1 Billion level.
Verizon did not comment, but made it clear that they do not seem to want
go that route. If Nextel maintains it at that level, Verizon would
probably have to stop doing so much spending on their cellular side and
allocate some money torwards that! With Nextel now in Mexico, I think I
might switch back because they are jumping to all the areas that are
most used. This will make their business jump really high and create a
huge amount of new accounts.
