Re: iden update - most stable version?

Follow these directions to the letter to get your USB cable working. I had
many USB cable issues and then found this set of directions online. Once I
followed it, I have not had a single problem since. I've given these
directions out to many others and they too have had their problems cease to
    exist after following them.

Installing USB drivers and getting your USB cable to work.
    =================
** Your USB cable should NOT be plugged in yet. Plugging in your USB cable
prior to installing the drivers could result in a non-functioning cable.
Follow these instructions and everything should work fine.

Step 1: Pull the USBinstallation.exe from
    http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/...stallation.exe These
drivers will work for Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 98se ONLY.

Step 2: Double click on the USBinstallation.exe file and follow the
    installation instructions.

Step 3: When prompted by the installation application, power on your phone
and connect it to the USB cable. Then connect the USB cable to your
    computer.

Step 4: Once you have completed step 3, the installation application should
begin installing the driver files. Follow any instructions it gives. When
it completes the installation process, you will be able to use your USB
    cable. Enjoy!

** If you get an error when trying to use your USB cable, such as No USB
driver installed and you have already performed the above steps, you
probably plugged your USB cable in sometime BEFORE you followed the above
steps! To fix the problem, goto settings -> control panel -> modems and
highlight and remove IDEN USB Modem (if it is there). Then goto setting ->
control panel -> system and navigate to your device manager window (it's
located in different places depending on your OS). Under USB controllers
(at or near the bottom of the list) make sure there are NO USB controllers
there that are unknown or unidentified. If there are, remove them
(highlight, then right click, then uninstall). Restart your computer and fo
llow steps 1 through 4 above. If your cable still doesn't work, then you
need to get a serial cable cause your USB one isn't going to work!
