Comparing verizon to Microsoft is a bit harsh on Microsoft.
The question is what would Microsoft look like if it
used verizon's strategies.
..........................................................
If the computer crashed, they wouldn't tell
you that there is a problem with the program
and they are working on it.
They will tell you that you should take
your computer in and have it replaced with
A "like new" referb.
...............................
They wouldn't try to come out with a new
fancy computer program to get everyone hooked.
They, would make a knock off copy of lotus 123
and push it down people throats, bragging about it's simplicity.
And it wouldn't actually have instantaneous recalculation,
It would only take 6 or 7 seconds.
...............................
Instead of the vast pool of share ware, and the development
tools that Microsoft will just give to anyone to make new programs.
The only programs you could use on your computer
would be "Get micro now" apps.
.............................
Instead of you knowing which programs are made by
microsoft and which are not.
The would just label everything with fogy terms like
"Extended Microsoft Network".

Re: What happened to all of the Verizon PTT advertising?
Verizon's PTT is not superior to Nextel's, and they will run into
problems with customers who are used to Nextels speed. For all you
schmucks talking about camera phones, the i95 can take the T720's camera
and plug into the bottom of it. Then you can take the pics to your home
computer, spruce them up and send them via email. Camera phones are not
how business gets done, which is why Nextel doesn't push them. they are
a FAD. Service is what it's all about.

Anyone who thinks camera phones are not worth it is an idiot. In selling
unique properties, used car brokering, and land, I have a great need for
a camera phone that I can take a picture of whatever it is I'm trying to
broker, and either get the client out to where I am based on the
picture, or have them tell me 'buy it' right then and there. THAT IS how
business gets done. And if it ain't DONE you don't get PAID. I'll take a
commission over a lack of one any day. Nextel needs to get their act
together and get a camera phone.

And there it is in a nutsack. Whether pic phones are fads or here
forever, they still have nothing to do with "How business get's
done". Althought I could possibly see a use in realestate or
something. Thought the pictures will have to get a lot better than
they are now.

Re: What happened to all of the Verizon PTT advertising?
If you need to take pictures of property, then buy a real digital
camera. I hate lousy pictures. The phones are not yet up to snuff for
that! When the quality gets better then you can talk. It just isn't
there yet.

WWII technology? Being able to talk to someone nationwide, or at least
where there is coverage, on a 2 way radio is hardly ancient. Maybe if you
took your head out of your ass, you would see how many people are using
Nextel nowadays. I see them every where. And no, not just Bob the
contractor either.
