Sprint, Nextel partner for number portability
Nextel Communications and Sprint today announced the completion of their
first Service Level Agreement (SLA) for wireless number portability. The SLA
will help subscribers of both carriers take their wireless phone numbers
between non-affiliated networks. Both companies said they are preparing
their internal systems and business processes for the number portability
deadline. Both carriers said that they have had difficulty forming number
portability agreements, claiming that the FCC has failed to provide them
with sufficient guidance. Until this summer, carriers continued to stall
their plans for number portability, hoping that the FCC would delay the
deadline. Verizon Wireless was the first service provider to abandon this
position and openly embrace the deadline, which the carrier hopes will allow
it to poach subscribers from its rivals. The FCC's number portability
mandate goes into effect on November 24.

Let me ask you a question? What is the benefit in your pointing this fact
out ? Will it go away? Is it possible the original posters news server is
slow and hadnt showed up yet?

Rene, your seemingly clever retort is both flawed logically as well as more
annoying than the implied offense you apply it too.

Re: news: Sprint, Nextel partner for number portability
Carl, a lovely retort if I may add. Why in the hell someone wants me to
scroll down to the bottom of a page to get the information I require, I'll
never know. I guess some people are just slow, and need to read e v e r y
line so they can u n d e r s t a n d what is up.
But then again, anyone that spends the time that he (or she) does worrying
about "the evil top poster's" kind of speaks for itself. I believe the song
says it best "Tooo Much Time On My Hands".

Re: news: Sprint, Nextel partner for number portability
Can I say the word "again"?
I expected this contract. Sprint has been nicer than Verizon on this
one, they didn't barge in and leap into a technology that was still
protected. VZW has me puzzled, it is as if they want to bully their way
through every one in their desperation to become the only cell phone
company in America. It will never happen. Sprint and Nextel are
determined to stay in there- and why shouldn't they? Both of them have
some of the biggest business line ups in the states.
For example: Sprint has the Army, Boeing, and the LDS Church, to name
a few of their corporate activities. Nextel also provides several
business contracts. Why shouldn't they co-operate a little in service
coverage for their clients, many of whom are the same organizations.

Nice post. I think you're right on the nose concerning VZW. They remind me
a lot of Microsoft- throw enough money around, and you'll eventually get
your way, no matter how bad your product is.
