    Hi All,

At work we were given some old Motorola i550's to work with. The
battery life on mine seems to be shorter than most and I was told that
if I were to disable the green flashing "power on" LED, that I would
    extend the battery life.

Is this true? If so, how do I turn the green light off? I tried
scrolling through the programming menu but no luck......

Thanks for any light (not green haha) you could shed on this topic,

    Bob

No on both, that I've seen. Well, you COULD open the unit up, and clip
    the wire..

But I doubt you'd notice any increase in battery life. Maybe 30
minutes more if you get 10 hours now. But I doubt it would go from
like 10 hours to 15 hours.

What's the date code on the batteries? It's a 4 digit number, i.e.
0204 - the first 2 digits is the year (99, 00, etc), the second two
are the week of the year (01-52).

Open up the radio, seperate the two halves...

Try downloading a manual from Motorola's website.

The answer you seek, as well as many others, would certainly be there.

You can't and it wouldn't make a noticeable difference.

if the hammer is big enough, it just might work!

No, it's not in the manual.

Just to give you an idea on the power consumption of an LED, you can run one for months on a single AA battery.
