    The sensor has a bit of a lag, and it might not be bright enough.

    Shut the phone off, press and the *0# buttons at the same time, and turn
    on the power. You'll get in diagnostic mode, and it should help test to
    see if the sensor works at all, and get an idea for what is bright
    enough.

    the 1st wrong was removing the nextel logo, it can't be done, and the 2nd
    was the contrasting adjustment with the photosensor, it has nothing to do
    with contrast, nothing @ all.
