| | Guest | Okay, so I got my first text message spam last night...
I've had my phone for a couple of years now and this is
the first I got. I suppose I should count myself lucky, but
I'm a bit upset over this.
This is the test of the message:
Nextel|WoW|ringers, wallpaper, mods & more.
Visit xxxxxxxx.com it's how business gets fun!l
I've deleted the website address above, obviously.
Is there anyway to block these things? I don't want
to have my work play (which forutnately pays for
me phone) to be charged extra for dumb spam that
I don't want.

| | Guest | Had the same problem here. It was a long battle w/ Nextel to do this but
they will do it and it did correct the several spams a day I was getting, at
my cost!
#1 DO NOT let them change your #. That's what they always push.
#2 Tell them you will not pay for the spams.
#3 ** Get FREE two-way messaging, they can do this, gather the return spam
email addresses and forward them to Nextel's spam messaging address. Then
Nextel will pursue the emailers.
That's how I/Nextel fixed the spams I was getting. Once they quit coming
Nextel turned off the FREE two-way messaging. It took about 2 months of
forwarding to Nextel and now all is back to normal.
Good Luck!.

I heard they will be introducing a filter sometime before the end of the
year. | | | |

| | Guest | Depending on which CS rep you speak to, the Spam filter will always be
installed in 2 weeks.
It was supposed to be in absativley - posalutely by the end of September -
Wait a minute; that was last month!
Meanwhile, 100+ Spam messages a week on my wife's account which was started
8/25/03.
Emailing CS on the Web gets no response. CS will gladly change your phone
number or remove Voice Mail notification from your account. None of them
have any desire to forgo the revenue from you reading the message, or from
the person sending it.
What a way to run a railroad....

Actually, they appear ready to roll out the first version of the filtering
software sometime next week. The capability will be added to all phones at
no cost. | | | |

I went to the website and joined the forums. I posted questions
and messages and they get deleted. I sent a PM and he does not
answer. I say that if ALL of use who get the spam goto his forum,
register and post message after message about being spammed on our
phones he will get the message. If you get banned register again with
a new email address and keep complaining. THat's what I am doing P | | | |
