Nokia 7250i volume!!

I can't change the volume during a call. In mine it's set v low so if
there's any noise around, I can hardly hear the other person. There MUST be
a way to change this!?

Does the Up and Down button on the left side of phone not work. If not might
pay to take in for servicing (for free if still under warranty).
