Nokia 6100

Hi

Can someone tell me if there is a maximum file size or amount of channels a
6100 will play as a ring tone, I've tried to download a few and quite often
it can't open the file.

There doesn't seem to be a pettern sometimes it might have 8 channels the
next time it might only have 5 and the file size doesn't seem to be a
pattern either.

I experienced similar problems on my 6220 and found the reason:
How many instruments are used on the drum/percussion channel?
There is a little remark in the spec "Midi in Nokia Phones" that
not only the midi file but also the instruments have to fit into this
very small amount of memory.
Try the following
- does the ringtone play when you remove the drum channel (channel 10)?
- use a Midi Sequencer (e.g. MAGIX music studio/midi studio) to split
the drum channel by instruments.
Now you can conveniently remove a few percussions without losing all
the drums.

6100 can only play 4 channel midis

You got to trim the MIDIs, to suit the phone.

I use [psm play] and just cut them down works great, its a free download
