yes! tdma phone is lock to a provider. gsm phone especialy if the phone is unlock you can choose a provider that you want. if you want to change you phone just buy a phone and put your sim card in it and your ready to go. if you want to change the provider, just but the sim card and put it into your phone and everything is set. you don't stuck with your provider and your phone on gsm. that's the diff of cdma and gsm. right now gsm covers the world.

o.k. but before you buy it, email your seller first and get the esn number of that phone. check it to your provider. because some tdma or cdma phone that selling in ebay is listed to the provider as stolen. not like gsm phone unlock just put in your sim and start calling.

just get the esn number before you buy it. it's for your money safety and some of the phone tdma and cdma is not compatible with your provider. get the cell phone model, esn number and who is the provider of this phone. and check your provider if they can move your service to this phone before you pay your seller.
